What gets checked before a pre-loved piece goes on the shelf

Bazin · 14 November 2026

Nobody at Bazin looks at your dress. There is no authentication lab, no expert on staff, and this page would be lying if it said otherwise. What the platform does instead is make some things impossible to publish.

A photograph or nothing

A listing without a picture of the actual garment is refused at the door — not flagged, refused. Stock images and borrowed photographs are why the second-hand web is full of gowns that do not exist.

Defects have to be declared

A piece offered as good or fair has to say what is wrong with it, either in the description or in the list of exclusions. An empty answer on both is a refusal, not a warning. A seller who photographs a missing bead and writes nothing has broken the rule; one who writes the rule down is telling the buyer something they can act on.

The prohibited things are screened

Items that may not be sold here — fakes offered as genuine, anything whose trade is restricted, medical garments — are refused by the same screen, whatever the seller intends. And a listing that tries to move the deal off the platform, with a phone number or an Instagram handle in the description, is refused too: a sale that leaves the marketplace is a sale with no record, and the record is the only thing protecting either side.

What is still the buyer's judgement

Size, taste and whether the cloth is worth what the seller asks. That is why measurements are published in centimetres, why the price is in euros and never converted, and why you can put an offer on a piece and read the seller's counter before paying anything.
